The vocabulary provides specialized and controlled terminology for the materials and physical supports (medium) used in the creation of various types of works and cultural artefacts. It is applied in the description, documentation, and discovery of cultural resources, works of art, items of folk heritage, rare publications, and other objects. Each term is accompanied by a definition and additional contextual information, and is linked through semantic mapping relationships to the Getty Art & Architecture Thesaurus (AAT) and to DBpedia (Wikipedia), enhancing interoperability and semantic enrichment.
